| MWC08: Microsoft takes MSN Direct from your watch to your phone
I thoroughly enjoy using my T-Mobile Shadow Windows Mobile Smartphone and am also a bit of a fan of the MSN Direct SPOT watches. Microsoft announced a new service and application for Windows Mobile Smartphones (Standard, non-touch screen devices) that is available now for free as a Technology Preview. MSN Direct for Windows Mobile is available now for your compatible device. It does not work on Windows Mobile Professional (touch screen) devices. MSN Direct for Windows Mobile brings you several of the feeds found in the MSN Direct watches, but since the data is being sent over the wireless networks and not over the same FM radio frequency that is used to send data to the watches there are some differences. You will be able to get news stories, weather updates, stock quotes, and sports news sent to you without any interaction necessary on your part.

Striking Writers Ready To Vote On New Deal; Return To Work Imminent
The Writers Guild of America moved swiftly Sunday toward a resolution of its three-month-old strike, with guild leaders deciding to recommend the contract to members and ask them to vote on a quick end to the walkout. By calling for separate votes on ending the strike and accepting the contract, the union cleared the way for the entertainment industry to return to work almost immediately. Membership meetings will be conducted Tuesday in New York and Los Angeles to allow writers to decide whether the strike should be called off, said Patric Verrone, president of the Writers Guild of America, West. "This the best deal this guild has bargained for in 30 years," Verrone said. The tentative contract secures writers a share of the burgeoning digital-media market, he said, including compensation for Internet-delivered TV shows and movies.

Care in the community
People stroll arm-in-arm towards the small parade of shops containing the post office, bank and convenience shop. The pretty thoroughfares bear quaint names such as Woodland View and Courtyard Mews. A former stable block houses a dental clinic and doctor’s surgery. Across the cobbles lie a village hall, bistro and café, their windows filled with glorious floral arrangements. But the tiny streets of Hesley, a village built in the grounds of a stately home near Doncaster, are curiously quiet. There are no conversations to eavesdrop on, no casual exchanges of gossip between retired residents. In fact, few inhabitants speak at all, beyond grunts, laughs and cries. Hesley is a purpose-built, privately run community for young adults with severe autism who have been excreted from the school system at 16 and for whom a normal life, either with parents or on their own, is simply not an option.
