Clinton Accuses Obama of Being Too Far Left

Its been the power political machine that's said if you are a party hack and want to advance, attach yourself to Hillary as the sure winner. Take that away and all she's got left to run on is her bitchy personality and her right-wing, pro-corporate record.

A Little Bit Country a Lot Glam on the CMA Red Carpet

It was jeans for some (Kid Rock, of course) and gowns for others at last night's 41st Annual Country Music Awards in Nashville, Tennessee. Nicole Kidman definitely brought the most bang to the red carpet in her bold dress — sure it looks a little like one of those cheesy college dorm felt-y posters, but it's not like she can't pull it off. Carrie Underwood looked typically great while fellow former Idol-er Kellie Picker looked surprisingly demure for her. I must admit that Kate Walsh looked pretty smokin', finding a way to be on our ABC Wednesday night even when Private Practice was preempted for these awards. Fab wants to know what you think about all the red carpet looks — check out her love it or hate its. Meanwhile, Bella's all interested in what you think about everyone's beauty, so check her polls out here.

School Board agrees to keep block schedule for another year

Linda Abbott must have a very short memory. She changed her vote after it was finished in a small meeting I remember about 7 months ago. Something to do with the Superintendant I think. Tonight, she did not know if it was appropriate for Mr. Callabrese to change his vote.Amazingly, even the person whose side he was going to join voted to not allow him to change his vote. My divorced parents that hate each other get along better than these people do.

Truth really is stranger than fiction.

Obama's Hispanderama

Now I can shape the national political debate. The only way I could exert more influence would be if I were president."

David Brooks had a point! ... P.S.: And Mark Warner certainly seeems to not want to piss him off. ... 4:17 P.M.

"Jeez. Why are you spending so much time on Kos," I'm often asked by exasperated readers. "We come to your site for Burkle." Good point! ... In this month's Los Angeles, Steve Oney takes you inside Team Burkle as PR man Mike Sitrick and his billionaire client have a conference call to decide whether to tell the truth. ... P.S.: It turns out Burkle didn't actually write the WSJ op-ed piece that appeared under his name. It was "ghosted by Sitrick." Who knew? Needless to say, the piece called for stricter journalistic standards of ethics.

Newsday's Movie Reviews

What's the point of making a parody that's dumber than the stuff it parodies? "Meet the Spartans" panders for cheap laughs at the expense of just about every vulgar excess in present-day pop culture. But it also wallows in the slop it denigrates to the point where the movie is all but indistinguishable from its dopiest targets.

Ebook Readers the Kindle, iLiad Reviewed

Last spring, I shared my thoughts on the first-generation Sony Reader (see SLJ March 2007 "Test Drive," p. 23). While I found the ebook reading device somewhat flawed, I was quite impressed with its paperlike and retina-friendly E Ink display. Since then, I’ve had the chance to track the evolution of this technology by testing two other products that feature E Ink, the iRex iLiad and the Amazon Kindle.

The iLiad. www.irextechnologies.com/products/iliad. $699. Still stoked from my experience with the Sony Reader, I was literally trembling with geeky excitement when I opened up the package containing the iRex iLiad. After all, this ebook reader promised some real improvements. For starters, the iLiad boasted a bigger touch-sensitive screen (8.1 inch, 122mm by 163mm)—one you could actually jot and save notes on.
