| Eagleman 'Time Slowing' Experiment Invalidated
R&D engineer, technologist, and conceptual theorist Marshall Barnes has now published a digital article that completely invalidates the celebrated findings of Baylor College professor David M. Eagleman, showing the perception of time slowing down during a crisis event is a function of enhanced memory. First published in December of 2007 in the online journal PlosOne http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0001295 , the peer reviewed Does Time Really Slow Down During A Frightening Event? posited that anecdotal accounts of time slowing down for people during frightening events are simply a function of the brain recording the event in a richer, more detailed process, resulting in memories of things happening slower. The response to the report across the Internet was mixed, even as media attention of the Eagleman report grew.
Flushed with shame at Britain
We now live in a violent, disrespectful society where social standards have ceased to exist. Who hasnt seen a bunch of drunks stagger from their local pub and start fighting? Who hasnt had some idiot screaming abuse at them for driving with appropriate care (ie obeying the speed limit) and who hasnt been on the wrong end of some little yob hurling profanities. Yes of course England still has so much to offer but why do we now choose to accept all the wrong instead of actually doing something about it? .
Sharper Image, Lillian Vernon in bankruptcy
NEW YORK — A weak holiday season and a struggling economy led retailers Sharper Image Corp. and Lillian Vernon Corp. to file for bankruptcy this week, and analysts predict others soon could follow them as consumer spending worsens. "You'll see a record number of bankruptcies over the next 50, 100 and 1,000 days," said Burt Flickinger III, managing director of New York-based retail consulting firm Strategic Resource Group. "Consumers are cash- and credit-constrained. They're out of purchasing power." Both Sharper Image, known for its high-tech novelty gadgets, and Lillian Vernon, which sells low-cost gifts and gadgets through its catalog and website, have long been plagued with falling sales. But retailers across the sector have been laying off staff and closing stores as consumers cut back on discretionary spending.

Hip-Hop Rumors: The KKK Planning To Kill Obama? BET's R...
Hip-Hop artist David Banner sent 80 children from the Stewpot Neighborhood Children's program in Jackson, Mississippi on an all expense paid trip to Six Flags over Georgia today (July 20). The rapper provided a bus, food, t-shirts and admission to the park on the annual excursion, which he has been sponsoring since 2005, with the intention of exposing the youth to different environments. “The children that we serve at Stewpot would not normally be able to go on an 'out of town' trip," said Stewpot Community Services Counselor, Sherry Adams. "Most of the kids in the community have not been out of Mississippi. Because of Banner's love for our community, he makes it possible for our kids to travel outside of Mississippi, on a fun and exciting summer trip every year.
