| Find your Digital Rebel's inner Holga
If you love the look of pictures taken with the Holga —those cheap, plastic cameras made in China—but don't want to deal with the oh-so-last-century idea of film, check out Holgamods' Holga Body Cap. Randy Smith, the man behind Holgamods, has taken the lens off a stock Holga and grafted it onto a Canon body cap that fits all of the Canon D-SLRs, including the Digital Rebel series, the EOS 5D Digital, the new EOS 40D Digital, and even the top-of-the-line EOS-1Ds Mark III (it would probably fit any of the more modern Canon film cameras as well). The result is pure plastic goodness without the darkroom. Like the Lensbaby (another of our favorite toys), the Holga Body Cap isn't an automatic lens. You'll need to shoot in manual mode, and set the shutter speed accordingly, but it's a lot of fun, and you end up those dreamy, variable-focus images that tell everyone you're just a little bit off-kilter.
JVC GR-D750
The final word: The GR-D750 is a solid little performer that punches well above its weight; offering impressive image quality for entry-level users. If you're on the lookout for a cheap miniDV camera, you could certainly do a lot worse than this. ON PAPER at least, the GR-D750 is the unmistakable runt of the JVC litter. With its low image resolution, rudimentary feature set and cheap looking design, we certainly weren't expecting much; yet it turns out that looks can be very deceiving. From its attractive price tag to its above average video performance, this is one of the best budget offerings we've seen in quite a while. It represents excellent value for money and is a perfect introduction to digital video - provided you can live without the bells and whistles. The GR-D750 is a standard-definition camcorder that records video to miniDV tapes.

A two-time MVP for Boulder High School in Colorado, Michael elected to play for Solebury prep school last year. Before the start of the 2006-07 season, Ricardo made a tough decision of his own. He announced his resignation at the end of the year as head coach at Colorado. While Michael adjusted to life away from home and bettered his game, Ricardo labored trying to motivate a young Colorado squad.Five-foot-10 guards aren't highly recruited by most Big 12 Conference teams, unless they possess Allen Iverson-like quickness and hops. When Ricardo accepted the Northern Illinois job, Michael seized the chance to play for his father."I always wanted to play for my father at Colorado," Michael said. "Being so small made it harder to see if I'd be ready for the Big 12 level. Prep school really helped me get ready for the next level.

For more-dramatic results, follow the B&W effect with the Boost Color effect (click on the middle right tile), which will increase the contrast in your image and provide a very slight warming tint. Option 2: Reduce saturation Each program also includes a saturation slider, which lets you quickly eliminate color information. In iPhoto 5 or 6, open the Adjustments palette and drag the Luminance slider all the way to the left. To do the same thing in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, go to Layer: New Adjustment Layer: Hue/Saturation and click on OK.
